A Day in Berlin

Joshua and I got to go to Berlin finally. I have been to Germany four times and I have never been to the Capital. We were really curious about the Berlin wall and had a lot of questions to ask Andres. He said he remembers visiting people from the East because he lived in the West when he was growing up. You had to pay to go through to the other side and you were only allowed 12 hours. Officers checked your car and your pockets for at least an hour on your way in to the East and your way back to the West side. He thought it was really strange even being a little kid. People from the East were not allowed to visit people from the West. Andres said that crossing the Berlin wall was like going to a different country because everyone looked so poor on the East side. So, Joshua and I did our fare share of crossing the Berlin Wall line without being padded down by an officer or being shot at.

Joshua laughed so hard when he saw the name of this coffee shop

Parts of the Berlin Wall

A monument for all the Jews killed in the Genocide

My new pullover from H&M

We went back to Va Piano's and it was not as good as it was in London. But you should still try it if you are ever near one.

Went to a boring Music Museum.....it was REALLY boring because we couldn't play anything.

A Dali Museum that we didn't go to because it was way to expensive

Check Point Charlie which is where all the US, Russian and German Soldiers exchanged prisoners

The Parliament

The "White House" of Berlin. A picture taken through our car window

A perserved part of the Berlin Wall with the original watch tower and death field. If you climb over the wall you would have been shot. In this zone of death there were self shooting systems that would shoot at any movement behind the wall. So, Joshua and I took advantage that we could walk to the East side and to the West side without being shot.

A Day in Dresden

Dresden was bombed 13th of February 1945 and ever since then the Germans have tried to re-build it and keep it looking old. It was such a beautiful city. We went to a big church called the Frauen Kirche. In front of that church is a big stature of Martin Luther. It is really late in Germany right now and so I think Joshua and I will ride our bikes home and go to sleep and I will leave these pictures with no captions so I can post them now instead of tomorrow. Gute Nacht Kalifornian.
