Our Apartment in Nipomo

This is the Sarr residence since Feburary 2012. I am sure most of you were a little bit curious if you are not from the Coast. The way the house is in these pictures is our recent change around. While Joshua was at work, I took 5 hours and rearranged the whole house with the help of a neighboor.....mostly by myself. We didn't have a place for Everly and I was having some major nesting needs. I couldn't wait any longer. Feel free to do a walk through of our place with these pictures!

The Sarrs

In a few days our normal life here in Germany with change. We love change and we are excited for what is next but we will miss our time here. Here is a little bit of our life here.

Going into Leipzig for dinner or Starbucks was very fun. I can't believe we only have 2 more full days here.

We took a chance eating at a place we have never been called the Nordsee for Joshua to have some fish. We shouldn't have taken that risk. It was expensive and he said it was the worst fish he had ever had.

Josh sometimes plays this piano or the black one in the other room. We are going to miss Lilou and her little German voice.

We will miss the way we always eat potatoes and garlic (Kartoffel und Knoblauch) and for desert apple tea (Apfel Tee) from Haci Baba's.

We will miss our balcony and our cute backyard.

Leftovers.

We will miss Paul.

Our cool balcony door that never shut perfectly.

Last minute Saturday night runs to Lidl because we always forget everything closes on Sundays.

Milka bars and cheap cheap good quality food.

Josh will miss this dear meat.

We will miss hanging out with the Gruen's at their house. Eating good food and having a lot of laughs.

Painting the stairs was fun too and we finished with the first coat of red and some little details around the railing.

I am sure this will happen again if my side of the bed is next to the wall. This is what Josh found next to my side of the bed and I couldn't help but laugh....

This is how the conversation went:

Josh: While making the bed "Faith you have SO much stuff on your side of the bed"

Faith: "No I don't!"

Josh: as he pulls items one by one.... "A water bottle, a whole entire roll of toilet paper, a pen, some paper, your american cell phone, some cords, an external hard drive, a wrapper from a cough drop, your Ipod, the camera charger and a thermometer."

Faith: " I swear, I can explain....I JUST put the electronics there because I was using them with the computer." There was no use trying to explain, that was pretty funny. I just started laughing so hard.

Then we found a few pairs of my socks under the covers.

Our Advent Fenster on the 22nd

Imagine your little advent calendar at home how you open a little box each day in December or you open a door or look in a pouch and you find something special. Well here in Germany with our little church we have a very big Advent Calendar. We call it an Advent Fenster (meaning Advent Window). Each family in the church is assigned a day in December and you put that number in your window. On your day, everyone comes to your house at 5pm. You can choose what you want to do for them. You can read a story, play some music or in our case you can have a piñata!

The kids loved it so much because most German kids have only seen one once or have never seen one before. We had a fire and also some homemade garlic bread. We even had apple tea that is neon green, another thing that the kids don't get often. The kids and even the parents loved it. We had so much fun, see for yourself.

The piñata fell so they beat it with the stick and got the candy out!

Joshua had such a great idea to bring this old bathtub from Andres house and build a fire.

These are the old stairs that Joshua and I have been painting and peeling paint from. The outside of the stairs are painted at the moment. We have a lot more work to do.

After a day of getting ready for this Advent Fenster, we treated ourselves to some Haci Babas! My amazing vegetarian doner.
